Effect of Rootstock Selection on Tree Growth, Yield, and Fruit Quality of Lemon Varieties Cultivated in Greece

Lemon is a prominent citrus fruit that supports regional economies worldwide. Several agronomic and quality attributes are affected by the rootstock selection, thus its selection essential for successful grove. This study aims to compare of four lemon cultivars (‘Mikrokarpo Messaras’, ‘Nouvel Athos’, ‘Femminello Commune,’ ‘Zia gara Bianca’) grafted onto three rootstocks (‘Sour Orange’, ‘Yuma Ponderosa lemon’, ‘Volkameriana’). The yield rootstock/scion ratio were estimated along with morphological characteristics (size, equatorial, polar diameter). Internal was also (total soluble solids, total acidity, juiciness, ascorbic acid, phenols, antioxidant activity). ‘Volkameriana’ stood out among studied rootstocks, as all varieties increased their productivity. Its combination Italian cultivar Commune’ exhibited enhanced tree vigor yield. For cultivars, use or lemon’ decreased content acid content, did not influence TSS/TA ratio, phenols activity. In conclusion, vigorous promising replacement ‘sour orange’. research provides valuable insights into potential lemons, existing literature rather limited.
